The bee, endangered species!

Bees and flowers are linked. This mutual relationship defines plant biodiversity. Bees are pollinators making them responsible for the reproduction, the survival and the evolution of more than 80% of plant and flower species.

In 2007, more than half the world's bee population disappeared. This disturbing reality is worrisome. Many elements, all related to intensive agricultural practices, are responsible for this phenomena. Here are the major ones.

  • Intensive agriculture, motivated by the industrialization of cultural practices, prioritizes monocultures, crushing floral biodiversity, the bee's major source of nutrition
  • Intensive use of pesticides and insecticides on plants and flowers.
  • Transportation stress caused by excessive use of bees in commercial crop pollination
  • Species of bees genetically unadapted to the North American climate and the pressures generated by their new ecosystem.

The role of the bee for humanity is essential, irreplaceable, vital. Be responsible today for a better tomorrow.
